Team Lead Data Engineering and Analytics

Adyen is looking for a passionate, experienced, and technical leader to scale an Analytics Engineering team that’s turning data into value for Adyen and our customers across Commercial, Marketing, and Operations. Together, you’ll build core data foundations to allow for a holistic understanding of a complex array of data that empowers Adyen to scale. You’ll actively lead a team of data engineers and data analysts, working closely with other analytic teams and business counterparts. In this role, you’ll lead innovation, drive strategic initiatives, and shape our technological roadmap to move and grow Adyen’s data organization. 

What you’ll do:

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of analytics engineers and data analysts striving for high performance. 
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define strategic goals and objectives for analytics initiatives, breaking these down into engineering roadmaps.
• Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of analytics projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards. Identify and mitigate risks to project success, with responsibility for stakeholder management.
• Design, implement, and optimize data pipelines, data marts, and automated analytics outputs. Continuously evaluate and improve data infrastructure to support evolving business needs, working with Data Platform teams.
• Lead the development and implementation of advanced analytical models, algorithms, and statistical techniques to extract meaningful insights from large datasets.
• Collaborate with analytics teams to drive value through data, enabling actionable insights that drive data-driven decision-making.
• Stay abreast of emerging trends, tools, and methodologies in the field of engineering and analytics.
• Evaluate and recommend appropriate tools and platforms to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of analytics processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, finance, and operations, to understand business requirements and priorities. Serve as a trusted advisor on data-related matters and facilitate alignment between technical and business stakeholders.
• Take pride in outputs and impact, and establish and enforce best practices for data governance, data quality, and data security. 
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to data management and analytics.

Who you are:

• You have 5+ years of experience leading a high-performing analytics engineering team.
• You have experience working with cross-functional teams, managing multiple stakeholders and priorities within a complex, large organization.
• You have excellent business acumen, understanding the role data plays in driving the growth of organizations.
• You are user-centric (consider the end users of your data solutions), understand the importance of data accuracy, quality, documentation, automation, and scaling, and can translate business needs into robust data models and solutions. 
• You have vast experience in data engineering, highly competent in programming languages (Python, SQL), data modelling techniques, and best software engineering practices.
• You have experience working with large volumes of data in distributed computing systems (Spark, Hadoop).
• You have strong project management skills to plan and execute projects from discovery to maintenance effectively. This involves defining project scope, allocating resources, managing timelines and budgets, mitigating risks, and working with agile methodologies.
• You are impact-oriented and able to prioritize tasks and projects based on transparent methodologies, which result in business impact.
• You have experience with data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Looker), including performance optimizations.
• You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and are comfortable talking to tech and non-tech audiences, as well as merchants and internal stakeholders from every part of the business.
• You are innovative, love dealing with ambiguity, have strong problem-solving capabilities, and enjoy establishing lean processes and procedures.
• You have experience in marketing, commercial, and operations domains.
