Group Product Manager - Payment Conversion

As a global enterprise payments service provider, Adyen offers the highest achievable revenue in the market, balancing together at an acceptable level of risk and optimal conversion.

What the Payment Conversion team does:

Assess automatically for fraud together with and blocking or challenging transactions.
Optimise the user experience at checkout (e.g. improved flows for redirect payments methods, bank authentication challenges, checkout page flows)
Route payments to the network most likely to support a transaction (e.g. global card networks together with local debit networks)
Adapt messaging to correct for payment ecosystem inefficiencies (e.g. out of date account details, using a network token rather than a PAN, changing the payment message depending on bank preference)
Retry - instantly and over time - with a new set of parameters

With more global networks, more payment methods, as well as new business channels with different priorities, when it comes to risk, customer experience, and business lifecycle determining a market-specific approach to payment optimisation  payment conversion has become a significant topic. However, at Adyen, being a tech-first company, we are solving for this in a scalable, efficient way, leveraging both a strong backend and data-driven approaches such as machine learning.

In this role you’ll have considerable freedom to build and guide a team of experienced, highly impactful senior product leads that fully own our strategy to boost merchant revenue and optimise cost, with minimal integration and impact on fraud.  You’ll partner with a dedicated team of engineers guided by a technical peer to realize this vision.  This is a multi-disciplinary role, requiring not just team leadership, but strategic vision together with relationship management with internal and external partners, and a skeptical, analytical approach to problem solving.

Adyen Data Product Managers:

Listen to our merchants, engineers, and partners to find problems that Adyen is uniquely positioned to solve;
Launch fast and iterate on solutions that are easy to use and support;
Dig into the data to demonstrate value to our merchants and to the market;
Give the sales team total confidence to price fairly on value, not cost;
Understand the technology so they can effectively communicate with engineers.
Are known thought leaders in the payments industry for their product area.

What are your skills:

Empathy - both for your team, and for your customers
Leadership - you’ve hired and led teams for at least 2 years of your career
Integrity - you have earned the trust of your technical and non-technical customers and colleagues, from the board level to support level
Proven record - you’ve conceived of and launched multiple successful products with quantifiable value to large enterprise customers
Data-driven - you can guide a data science team with the right questions to answer, and turn those answers into business value
Technical understanding - you can follow high-level conversation on how products are built and the technical side of them 
Business acumen - you have identified novel together with significant revenue opportunities, and convinced senior executives to support in your product strategy
Fearlessness - you’ve made hard choices and have taken calculated risks
Adaptability and creativity - plans and conditions always change, but you still confidently navigate the right course
Poise: Sales asks you to sit with their clients, and marketing asks you to present at conferences
Payments experience on all sides of the payments ecosystem (merchant, acquiring, or issuing) is welcome, but not a requirement to apply
