Data Analyst - Exposure Risk

This is Adyen

Adyen is the payments platform of choice for the world's leading companies, delivering frictionless payments across online, mobile, and in-store channels. Our team members are motivated individuals that help each other do remarkable things every day. We face unique technical challenges at scale and we solve those as a team. And together, we deliver innovative and ethical solutions that transform the way the world pays.

We took an unobvious approach to starting a payments company, building a platform from scratch. Now, Adyen serves the world's brightest companies like Meta, Uber, L'Oreal, Camper, eBay, GoFundMe, Bonobos, and Spotify.

Data Analyst

We are looking for a data analyst who is both passionate about data, as well as telling the stories behind it. You are a professional in insights storytelling, communication and visualization and know how to turn metrics into action. You love seeing data transform  into information, enabling automation and creating convincing visualizations (such as dashboards and presentations) and stories.

You are able to spot opportunities in data and know how to enable others to use it effectively. Next to being a data evangelist, you love building self-serve dashboards for people to use, whether our merchants directly, or any internal stakeholders. You don’t like doing the same thing twice: you have an automation mindset so your work is never repetitive. You know how to design (and maybe even create) highly optimized datasets that can be used to answer numerous questions.

What You’ll Do

We are currently hiring for many different streams. This stream is called Exposure Risk.

Exposure Risk is establishing the Adyen credit risk and financial monitoring framework, enabling automated identification of risks and growth opportunities tailored to our customers and merchants. We’re building this from the ground up, leveraging our Big Data cluster and massive transaction datasets to be fully in control at all times. You’ll be a crucial part in understanding how we can spot financial trouble earlier in the process, why a credit offering was successful or what we can do to improve our monitoring.

Who You Are

  • Demonstrable past experience in a similar role at a previous company. Experience in the payments industry is a plus.
  • You are (almost) as passionate about people as you are about data. You get excited about what data can do for others and want to contribute to a data-driven organization. You are a great communicator and feel comfortable talking to stakeholders. You don't blindly follow up requests, but make sure you get the question behind the query. You love articulating data-stories to your stakeholders. These can include merchants on our platform.
  • Technical and have a good understanding of all components of an analytical data pipeline. You are comfortable writing (complex) SQL queries and have (at least) some level of coding skills (R or Python).
  • It’s a plus if you have experience with tools like JupyterHub and Looker and Big Data technology such as Spark, Hadoop and Airflow. At Adyen we use Git for version control, so some level of experience here is a plus.

Data Positions at Adyen

We know companies handle different definitions for their data-related positions, this is for instance dependent on the size of a company. Since the birth of the Data Solution and the growth of all data streams, we categorized and defined all our positions. Have a look at this blogpost to find out!

Our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Commitments

Our unobvious approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. This diversity of backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives is essential in helping us maintain our momentum. Our business and technical challenges are unique, we need as many different voices as possible to join us in solving them - voices like yours. So no matter where you’re from, who you love, or what you believe in, we welcome you to be your true self at Adyen. Studies show that women and members of underrepresented communities apply for jobs only if they meet 100% of the qualifications. Do you recognize yourself in this statement? If so, Adyen encourages you to reconsider and apply. We look forward to your application.

What’s Next?

Ensuring a smooth and enjoyable candidate experience is critical for us. We aim to get back to you regarding your application within 3 business days. Our interview process tends to take between 3 or 4 weeks to complete. Don’t be afraid to let us know if you need more flexibility.

Please, note that this role is a full-time position in Amsterdam. It will require a relocation in case you live outside of the Netherlands.
